Palm Sunday 2017

Summation of a Divine Life

Why in the world would anyone care to enter Jerusalem, that city of peace, riding on an ass and a colt? It makes no human sense but it is the summation of the divine life about to enter His Passion. The details flow from the prophetic voice of Zacharias who years before foretold that the Jews would witness their king entering Jerusalem on a colt. Jesus is coming and so tells two of his apostles to go into the city and take someone’s ass and colt. Just tell them “the Master has need of them.” No problem if you happen to be the Word of God and you created those who own the beasts. It is a miracle. No mere man could just put all this together at the drop of the hat. So let us consider what this miracle means then and now.

In the first place the ass represents the stubborn Jewish nation that would not recognize the signs that the Son of God was present and seeking to unbind the ass from its sinful stubbornness. Hence He sent two of His Apostles into the city who found things just as Jesus described and brought both beasts back. The colt represents the Mystical Body of our Lord which would be the means of His entry. Sin begets blindness and only a knowledge of the truth could set the nation free. Now this divine life journeyed throughout the land performing miracle after miracle. All that He did was to instruct us regarding His divine mission which was coming to its perfection. Now by His actions He was bringing two nations together in a salvation that only boggles the mind. That God so loved this world that He sent His only begotten Son to lay down His Life for the sake of us all.

The meaning moves more deeply into the sublime. It will be those instructed by Jesus who place their garments (the teaching) over the means of travel. These apostles would be the means of transporting the eternal truth of God’s love throughout the world and throughout the centuries. Fidelity is demanded. What a situation we are in today with the colt imitating the ass. Stubborn leaders seek to do it “their way.” They neglect the word of God and place a human construct in its place. Only true apostles can bring the Truth to the nations and this is not happening under the relativism preached by this Pope or Father Bergoglio. Our desire is to regain the Truth proclaimed by Christ’s life in His words and works.

Now we understand why this gospel is chosen for this great event. There is not a soul alive today that does not seek goodness, beauty and truth. They desire the beatific vision and that vision is of the new Jerusalem coming to establish a true kingdom which will be for all who hold to the Gospel a place untouched by the blindness of sin. It will be a glorious moment when all hearts have been formed in the divine flesh offered for their freedom from sin. It will be a place of power flowing from the Godhead alone. All effects of sin will be wiped out and only the Love of the Holy Trinity will remain. Only that Love can satisfy this hungry soul.

Finally, do not be deceived by all the false prophets, by the financial wizards, by the health nuts. Remember all is passing and only one thing remains: your eternal soul must carry the Cross of Truth and learn to love as He loved us. No other king was so humble; no other king was so gentle; no other king was so powerful than the Word made Flesh. Through Him, with Him and in Him we live and move and have our very being. Do not be deceived by the antics of the demonic but battle with the word of God as your breastplate. Put your hand in the hand of the Mother He has given to us and the victory will be yours in her. Prepare well for the new life of Easter.

In the hearts of Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
